
Just when he was beginning to lose hope, he saw a faint light at the end of the tunnel. His heart soared with relief. Hastening his steps, he moved towards the light, praying fervently that it was his escape route. As he approached, the light grew brighter, bathing the tunnel in a warm glow.
Murat emerged from the labyrinth, blinking against the daylight. He had never been so glad to see the sun. He was back in his basement, the entrance to the underground city gaping ominously behind him. Overwhelmed with relief, he sank to the floor, his legs giving way beneath him. He took deep, calming breaths, letting the familiar sights and sounds of his home ground him.
While the discovery of the underground city was fascinating, it had also been terrifying. He knew he would need to alert authorities about the historical find beneath his home, but something stopped him. He would keep it a secret, for now. So after catching his breath, Murat took one last look at the gaping maw of the entrance before sealing it off temporarily. It was a promise to himself – he would return, but not alone and certainly not without a well-thought-out plan.
