The wild fascination of the elk
The elk is a large animal, with a height at the withers of between 1.5 and 2.5 meters and an average weight of 1,800 kilos. Males in particular, known as “bucks”, are easily recognized by their large, open antlers.
They are distinguished by their long snouts and the way their antlers hang down their chins. The elk is agile on land and can run up to 35 mph. It can also run at a constant speed of 20 mph.
Their powerful bodies and agile movements are remarkable. The sight of elks in fields and forests fascinates us because they are part of nature. Their magnificent antlers and graceful gait are a symbol of nature’s charm and strength.
