Protecting endangered trees
Unfortunately, the giant tree was placed on the endangered species list in 2011. In addition, an estimated 13-19% of its population has been destroyed by fires such as the Castle Fire in 2020, the Windy Fire in 2021 and the KNP Complex.

Despite their large size and ability to adapt to fire, these trees are under serious threat. The combined gas load from fire-fighting activities may contribute to their destruction.

This is a very sad situation. We must constantly strive to protect these precious trees. Several initiatives are needed, including fire management, revision of protection policies and cooperation between communities.

Protecting these trees is also important for ecological diversity and environmental health. In addition, raising awareness and educating future generations about the importance of conserving these magnificent trees is crucial to ensuring their long-term survival and preservation.
