Wombats are also known for their incredible physical stamina, as they are able to dig large underground burrows up to 30 meters long, providing protection from the region’s variable climates.

In addition to their ability to dig, wombats have keen eyesight and a highly developed sense of smell, which enables them to detect the presence of predators and other animals in their territory, contributing to their survival in an often hostile environment.

Relations between wombats and farmers have not always been conflictual. In some parts of Australia, farmers recognize the value of wombats in controlling pests such as insects and rodents and strive to implement coexistence solutions that protect their properties without threatening the marsupial population.

In addition, several conservation organizations are committed to promoting educational programs and protection measures for wombats, trying to make local communities aware of the importance of these animals for the ecosystem and promoting harmonious coexistence between man and wildlife.
