The mighty hippopotamus
The hippopotamus, also known as the water horse or hippopotamus, is the second largest land animal after the elephant. Male hippos are typically 1.5 meters long, 1.5 meters high and weigh around 3,200 kg.

Hippos are adapted to life in water, and their bodies are very dense. This enables them to hold their breath for some time and walk underwater. Their eyes, ears and nostrils are located high on their head, enabling them to keep the rest of their body underwater.
