Michelle Jenneke, an Australian hurdler and model, has gained a massive following on social media, not necessarily due to her athletic performances but because of a video that went viral in 2012. People all over the internet were hyping about her dance and sharing it online. In the video she is doing a pre-race warm-up dance, which has become her signature routine. However, Jenneke wants to be recognized for more than just her signature routine, as it serves as a vital part of her mental and physical preparation for a race.

Jenneke has expressed disappointment in the way female athletes are treated in the media, as they are often quickly built up and then just as quickly torn down. Despite the attention on her dance routine, Jenneke’s athleticism should not be overlooked. She placed sixth in her 100m hurdle heat at the 2016 Rio Olympics, proving that she’s much more than just a viral video.
